The New Mexico agricultural sector

The mining industry does well extracting coal, silver, turquoise, copper, uranium, manganese, potash, salt, perlite, natural gas, beryllium, and tin. Petroleum and are also found in smaller quantities. The industrial sector of the New Mexico economy provides food processing, mineral processing, chemical production, electrical equipment, and ammunition. High-technology manufacturing is increasingly important, much of it in the defense industry. The US military is a major employer in this arid state. The tourist industry here is strong offering visitors many places to visit including Carlsbad Caverns National Park, Aztec Ruins National Monument, White Sands, Bandelier, Capulin Volcano, El Morro, Fort Union, Gila Cliff Dwellings, Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monuments and Chaco Culture National Historical Park. |
