The homes in the Twin Peaks neighborhood sit
under the tallest hills in the hilly city of San Francisco.
Many of these tracts were developed just before and after World
War II. Twin Peaks is the fog boundary. The peaks block the
fog from the downtown neighborhoods or at least slow it down.
From the western side of this community you can see the thick
soupy fog roll into town especially |
in the summer. The homes here are well cared
for and you will see many mature trees on a few of the streets. There
are many hedges and flower gardens as people take pride in their homes
here.
A few of the homes on the northern side of Twin Peaks are influenced
by the style of Spanish Villas, those on the eastern slope are primarily
apartment buildings. Besides the Spanish villas you will also see
Normandy-style single-family detached houses and quaint cottages.
Recently the slopes facing south have seen the construction of many
smaller single-family houses that face apartment structures and and
larger homes. As you travel through the neighborhood you will see
Tudors styles and Spanish styles with tiled roofs. Most of the homes
here are single homes with a few townhouses, interspersed.
Homes here range in price from $375,000 to $4,000,000.

of Market Street you will run into a highly concentrated series of homes with magnificent views.
Contemporary condos erupt from the little hills of this undulating neighborhood. The units are spotless and up to date.
West Portal
Homes in the West Portal neighborhood are within a short distance of Twin Peaks. West Portal is an immaculate wooded area.
This community is a sanctuary from the hectic pace of the city. In this neighborhood you will find many shopping
opportunities and service oriented businesses that will probably provide all you need. While West Portal has a very busy
business center the housing area has the sense of being in a quiet town. For the most part homes here are single-family
dwellings with enormous yards.
Here you will find dime stores, everyday book stores, nice antique shops, health spa services, beauty parlors, grocery
stores, java joints, banks, a movie theater, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Mexican, Polish and French eateries. The eastern
edge of this pleasant community offers a diverse mixture of fashionable boutiques, specialty shops and hardware stores.
West Portal is bounded by Taraval Street on the north, West Portal Avenue on the east, Sloat Boulevard on the south, and
19th Street on the west.
Clarendon Heights
Homes sitting in Clarendon Heights rest on the slopes of Twin Peaks offering the expected breathtaking views. Homes here
have roofs tiled in that Spanish tradition and other elements that reflect the Spanish influence on design here. Open
space is a normal part of properties here.
